Adjusting a trailer is a fine art. Often the closer the rollers are together helps, but mostly it is also about where the strakes hit the rollers when the boat is coming on. Also silly question but do you have the trailer in the water straight? and make sure its not in too deep. HTH

Hi Andy

If I haven't already said it mate, welcome to the FWA Forum. I had exactly the same problem with my boat, even though the collecting, keel and side rollers have all been checked a few times. What I discovered was that I was sinking my trailer too much (yeah I know, doesn't make too much sense - you would think if you did that, that it would float over the keel rollers and trim against the side rollers), but I think it's the way the hull is deigned.

When retrieving, try not dropping your trailer too deep in the water. I have a tandom axle, and the perfect position is with the rear wheels 2/3 in the water - up to the mud guards. Yes, it means a slightly harder winching (though I can do that with one hand easily and my boat is 1.8 tonne fully loaded.)

Hope that helps!

Have you had anyone look at it - a boat yard etc Andy? If you have tried it at all levels, it does sound like some adjustment of roller heights (or skids if you use those) could be the issue then.

Had exacly the same problem, it turned out that the weight of my batteries was leaning the boat to that side every recovery, took me weeks to sort out. What I do now is get somebody to act as a counterweight when I recover the boat.I had the trailer at every level known to mankind and everybody at the boatramp sick of me.Boat weighs 2.5 tonne but it still made a difference but not on the water

solly
